Anambra School St. John Vianney Science College defeat UK Schools to Emerge Champion

St. John Vianney Science College, Ukwulu, Anambra State, has emerged grand champion of the inaugural UK-Nigeria Debate Competition

St. John Vianney Science College, Ukwulu, Anambra State, has emerged grand champion of the inaugural UK-Nigeria Debate Competition, triumphing over other schools in Nigeria and British contenders. 

The competition held virtually on June 19, 2025, with participation from top-ranking schools in Nigeria and in the United Kingdom. 

The Four schools that competed from Nigeria are:

  • Britarch Schools, Abuja
  • Sure Start School, Abuja
  • St. Augustine’s College, Jos 
  • St. John Vianney Science College, Ukwulu. 
Schools that represented the United Kingdom were: 

  • Central Foundation Girls’ School 
  • Maghull High School 
  • Shireland High School. 
After intense preliminary rounds, St. John Vianney Science College made it to the finals. 

The team confidently defeated British contenders Maghull High School and Central Foundation Girls’ School before advancing to an all-Nigerian final against St. Augustine’s College, Jos. 

In a highly competitive showdown, St. John Vianney Science College secured a decisive victory in the finals, earning the prestigious title of Inaugural UK-Nigeria Debate Champions.
