Arsenal have officially signed Swedish forward Viktor Gyokeres on a long-term deal, adding a proven goalscorer to their attacking lineup.
The 27-year-old arrives from Sporting Lisbon, where he delivered a remarkable record of 97 goals in just 102 games. His two standout seasons in Portugal saw him win consecutive league titles and a domestic cup, topping the scoring charts in both campaigns. Gyökeres has also impressed on the international stage, netting 12 goals in his last 17 appearances for Sweden.
Originally from Stockholm, Viktor began his career at IF Brommapojkarna, rising through their youth ranks before making his senior debut at 17. His journey has included spells at Brighton, Swansea, St. Pauli, and a standout stint at Coventry City, where he helped the team reach the Championship play-off final in 2023.
Arsenal’s Sporting Director, Andrea Berta, described Gyökeres as “an exceptional talent” with the physicality, intelligence, and drive that match the club’s ambitions.
Manager Mikel Arteta echoed the excitement, calling Viktor “a quick, powerful striker with a sharp eye for goal” and praised his consistency and movement in the box.
Viktor will wear the number 14 shirt and is set to join the squad for their pre-season tour in Asia. The transfer remains subject to final regulatory approvals.
Welcome to Arsenal, Viktor Gyökeres.
