Asamoah Gyan Accuses Osimhen of Faking Injury vs Rwanda

Former Ghana captain, Asamoah Gyan, has stirred controversy after accusing Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, of faking his injury during Nigeria’s World Cup qualifier against Rwanda.

Osimhen was carried off midway through the first half in Uyo after a collision with Niyomugabo, a setback that ruled him out of Nigeria’s next match with South Africa, which resulted in a 1-1 draw against South Africa in Bloemfontein.

But Gyan insists the injury wasn’t genuine. Speaking in an interview with habersarikirmizi, the ex-Black Stars forward claimed Osimhen may have staged the incident to secure his fitness ahead of Galatasaray’s Champions League campaign.

“I know these tricks,” Gyan alleged. “Somebody probably told him, ‘We invested heavily in you, and the Champions League is coming. We don’t like you going to Africa, but just show face, pretend to be hurt, and by the next day you’ll be back in Türkiye.’”

The claims have sparked mixed reactions among football fans, with many defending Osimhen while others question whether club pressures often force African players into difficult choices during international duty.
