Enugu Man Arrested for Defiling His Two Young Daughters

The Enugu State Government has confirmed the arrest of one Mr. Ozioma Okonkwo for allegedly defiling his two biological daughters, aged 2 and 5.

Okonkwo, a native of Imo State who resides in Enugu, was arrested on Saturday night, October 25, 2025, after a concerned citizen raised an alarm that led authorities to his residence.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Ministry of Children, Gender Affairs, and Social Development said the suspect is currently in police custody and will face charges once investigations are concluded.

Meanwhile, the two children have been taken into a government-approved shelter, where they are receiving medical attention and psychosocial support. Their mother, said to be in deep shock, will begin therapy under the ministry’s welfare team.

The Commissioner for Children, Gender Affairs, and Social Development condemned the act, describing it as “heartbreaking and totally unacceptable.”

The state also appreciated the vigilance of residents who continue to support its fight against abuse and the protection of women and children’s rights in Enugu.
