An Atlanta gas explosion injured a man and forced dozens of residents to evacuate after a violent blast rocked a nearby building.
The force of the blast was so intense that about 40 people in nearby apartments were immediately ordered to evacuate.
Emergency responders arrived to a disturbing scene. Amid the scattered debris, firefighters discovered a badly injured man outside the structure. Footage later obtained by TMZ shows the victim, partially unclothed, kneeling in pain as rescue workers treated his severe burns. At one point in the video, he lets out a loud cry as paramedics tried to stabilise him.
Authorities confirmed that the man was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he remains in stable condition. A search of the building revealed no additional victims.
Atlanta Fire officials also released an aerial photograph capturing the aftermath twisted metal, shattered walls and wreckage spread across the lot.
While the explosion caused significant structural concerns for surrounding buildings, investigators are still trying to determine what triggered the blast. Officials say the cause remains unknown but is under active investigation.
