Breaking News: Terrorists Attack Travellers on Eruku–Egbe Road in Kwara

Terrorists attacked travellers along Eruku–Egbe road in Kwara State, sparking panic and heavy security concerns.

Panic broke out on Monday evening as terrorists launched an attack on travellers along the busy Eruku–Egbe road in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.

According to eyewitnesses, several vehicles were forced to stop abruptly as gunmen opened fire, sending passengers running into nearby bushes for safety.

A video obtained by SaharaReporters showed multiple vehicles, including heavy-duty trucks, parked on the roadside while frightened travellers took cover.

One eyewitness who spoke to journalists confirmed that the gunmen were still operating in the area as of Monday evening. He warned motorists to avoid the road until security agents restore order.

This latest incident comes barely a day after another deadly attack along the Ayere–Kabba road in Kogi State, where armed men ambushed a commercial bus, killing one passenger and injuring several others.

Sources said the Kogi attack happened around 5 p.m. on Sunday when the assailants suddenly opened fire on moving vehicles. Although some motorists managed to escape, several passengers were hit by stray bullets.

“One person was confirmed dead at the general hospital, while others are being treated for gunshot wounds,” a local source disclosed.

Residents have since raised alarm over the increasing rate of highway attacks along the Kogi–Kwara corridor, calling for urgent government intervention to secure the area.
