Chad Ollinger, a cast member of Discovery Channel’s Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch, faces murder charges following the death of his cellmate in a Las Vegas jail

What began as a routine jail check has now placed a reality television personality at the centre of a murder investigation in the United States.

Chad Ollinger, known for appearing on Discovery Channel’s Mystery at Blind Frog Ranch, has been charged with murder after his cellmate was found dead inside a Las Vegas detention facility.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, correctional officers conducting routine checks at the Clark County Detention Center on Friday discovered a male inmate lying motionless inside a shared cell.

Officers entered the cell and observed that the inmate had sustained apparent blunt force injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said Ollinger, who was sharing the cell with the deceased inmate, was immediately taken into custody. Detectives later determined that a physical altercation had occurred between Ollinger and the victim inside the cell prior to the inmate’s death.

A spokesperson for the Clark County Detention Center confirmed that Ollinger is now facing a charge of open murder.

At the time of the incident, Ollinger had already been in custody since October. He was arrested as a fugitive from another state and was also facing a contempt of court charge.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the inmate’s death remain ongoing, as authorities work to establish the full sequence of events leading up to the fatal confrontation.
