A swift joint response stopped a Sokoto terrorist attack, as youth and security forces captured two suspects and neutralised three others.
Residents of Kwagaba community in Wurno LGA of Sokoto State woke up to encouraging news on Tuesday after a joint effort by local youth, vigilantes and the Nigerian Army successfully repelled a terrorist attack.
According to community sources, the attackers stormed the area around 2am, believing it would be another easy operation where they intimidate, loot or kidnap without resistance.
But things took a different turn.
This time, the youth in the community quickly mobilised, raised alarm and notified both the vigilante group and the Nigerian Army. Security operatives responded with unusual speed, rushing into the area before the bandits could escape.
A confrontation followed.
In the exchange, three of the attackers were neutralised, while two others were captured alive. No resident was killed, injured or kidnapped during the incident.
For many locals, the outcome felt like a major breakthrough after years of repeated attacks that often left communities helpless.
Community members expressed relief and gratitude, praising the swift collaboration between the youth, vigilante groups and the Nigerian Army for preventing what could have been another tragic night.
The successful operation has boosted confidence among residents, who hope this marks a new phase in the fight against insecurity in the region.
