This development is very serious and a constitution matter, A House of Representative member, Abdulsammad Dasuki, is alleging that the tax bill Tinubu’s government sent to the National Assembly, which the National Assembly passed into law, is almost entirely different from the one the Federal Government gazetted for Nigerians.
This means that the new tax law, which the government will impose on Nigerians from January 2026, is not the same as the one the National Assembly passed into law.
If this is true, then the government has committed a constitutional fraud. They should as a matter of urgency stop the implementation of the Tax law until there are full harmonization.
