Police tactical unit deployed for search and rescue after Benue church abduction.

The peace of a night prayer session was shattered in Benue State as armed men invaded St. John’s Catholic Church in the Ojije community of Ado Local Government Area.

In a daring move, the attackers stormed the church during a vigil and forcibly took nine worshippers. The victims were led away into the bush to an unknown destination, leaving the local community in a state of shock.

Confirming the incident on Monday, the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Edet Udeme, stated that the command is already on the trail of the kidnappers.

Following the report, the Commissioner of Police ordered the immediate deployment of tactical teams and special operational units to the area.

These officers are currently scouring the forests and nearby locations to ensure the victims are rescued safely.

The police have also reinforced security in other vulnerable parts of the state to prevent a repeat of such an attack.

DSP Udeme assured the public that the command is fully committed to protecting lives and will not rest until the worshippers are reunited with their families.

For now, the hunt for the assailants continues as security forces intensify their search-and-rescue efforts in the region.
