Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has been named The Sun Man of the Year 2025 for his massive impact on governance.
Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has added another feather to his cap after being honored as the "Man of the Year 2025" by The Sun Newspapers.
The prestigious recognition was handed to him during the 2025 edition of the Sun Awards, which held in Lagos over the weekend.
The event gathered top dignitaries to celebrate individuals making a real difference in Nigeria.
According to the organizers, Governor Mbah was chosen for his "disruptive innovation" and the way he has transformed various sectors in Enugu State.
They noted that his style of inclusive governance has broken long-standing barriers and brought visible progress to the people.
The Publisher of Sun Publishing Limited, Barr. Neya Kalu, described the award as a reminder that greatness still rises even when times are tough. She praised Mbah and other winners for choosing to stand out.
Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, the founder of the newspaper, presented the award and was full of praise for the Governor.
He described Mbah as a leader who is "tilling the ground" and delivering actual results across the state.
Kalu also reminded the audience that The Sun remains a public trust and stays neutral in politics, ensuring that its awards are strictly based on merit.
In a humble response, Governor Mbah dedicated the award to his team. He stated that the honor belongs to the men and women who work behind the scenes to turn bold ideas into reality.
However, he was quick to mention that he is not ready to slow down. "Our work is not done," Mbah said, adding that the award would only push him to work harder and deliver the future that the people of Enugu truly deserve.
The Chairman of the event and CEO of Air Peace, Dr. Allen Onyema, backed the decision, saying Mbah’s win proves the credibility of the awards.
He noted that no one could dispute the Governor’s achievements in such a short period.
