President Tinubu names Governor Agbu Kefas as the APC leader in Taraba following his defection from the rival PDP.
President Bola Tinubu has cleared the air regarding who holds the reins of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the state level.
Speaking in Jalingo during a reception for Governor Agbu Kefas, the President declared that every sitting governor is the official leader of the party in their respective state.
Vice President Kashim Shettima, who represented the President at the event, officially welcomed Governor Kefas into the APC fold.
The Governor recently made headlines after defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). By this move, Kefas has now taken over the leadership of the APC in Taraba State.
During the ceremony, Tinubu praised the Governor's efforts to bring peace and unity to Taraba. He noted that harmonizing the state's diversity is key to lasting progress.
The President also promised that the Federal Government would fully support the Governor’s cabinet to deliver real development to the people.
“I am happy to see this change in the North-East,” the President remarked. He didn't stop there, as he expressed hope that Bauchi and Adamawa states would soon follow suit and join the party at the center.
The President concluded by urging the people of Taraba to stand firmly behind Governor Kefas to ensure his administration succeeds in transforming the state.
