Anambra Man Kills Lover’s Son Over Relationship

A tragic incident in Anambra as a man murders his lover's son for objecting to their affair, sparking mob action.

Tragedy struck Uli community in Anambra State after a young man was allegedly hacked to death by his mother’s lover. The suspect, identified simply as Gozie, reportedly carried out the act following a disagreement over his relationship with the victim’s mother.

The incident occurred on March 15, 2026, near the Anambra State University campus. Residents say the victim, in his 20s, had consistently opposed Gozie’s frequent visits, leading to heated arguments.

Neighbours became suspicious when the compound fell silent for two days. Upon forcing entry, they discovered the lifeless body in a pool of blood with severe machete wounds. The suspect and the mother had already fled the scene.

The discovery triggered immediate outrage. Youths paraded the corpse through the streets in a wheelbarrow, demanding justice. 

In retaliation, youths from Egbu, the victim’s community, stormed the suspect’s family home and set buildings ablaze.

Community elders have condemned the resort to jungle justice. Police have since deposited the body in a morgue and transferred the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department. A manhunt for the fleeing suspects is currently underway.
