NSCDC Officer, Two Others Arrested in Anambra Raid

Anambra State Police Command has apprehended a suspected officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) alongside two accomplices. 

The trio was nabbed for alleged armed robbery and cultism in Ogidi, Idemili North Local Government Area.

The arrest followed a raid by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad in Awkuzu. Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the operation took place on March 21, driven by credible intelligence

Suspects Francis Anene, Emmanuel Obi, and Okoye Chinonso were rounded up at a criminal hideout. 

A search led to the recovery of two locally made Beretta pistols and live ammunition. A suspected fake identity card was also found in their possession.

Police say the suspects belong to a syndicate responsible for terrorising residents. They are also being questioned regarding the murder of the Ogidi President-General. 

In a separate incident, police recovered a stolen petrol tanker along the Onitsha/Owerri Expressway. Investigations are ongoing.
