A suspected terror recruiter was intercepted in Borno by Nigerian troops and CJTF members during an intelligence-led operation in Benesheikh.
MAIDUGURI — A suspected recruiter for the Boko Haram terrorist sect was intercepted in Benesheikh, Borno State. The operation was conducted on March 24 by troops of the 29 Brigade, Operation HADIN KAI, in a joint effort with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).
Credible intelligence provided by a local informant led to the identification of the suspect. He is alleged to be a primary link for the enlistment of new members into the insurgent ranks.
Security sources confirmed the arrest followed a period of surveillance in the general area.
The suspect was taken into custody during the coordinated raid. He is currently being processed by military authorities in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Further investigations were launched to dismantle the recruiter’s wider network and identify his accomplices.
