Nollywood actress Eucharia Anunobi opens up on her father's initial rejection of her career choice before finally accepting her.
Nollywood veteran Eucharia Anunobi has opened up on the steep price she paid for fame. She revealed that her journey to stardom was fought against the will of her father.
The actress explained that her father saw no value in educating a girl child. Despite being wealthy, he refused to pay her fees because he believed she would eventually marry and leave the family.
Left with no choice, Eucharia funded her own education through modeling. The conflict deepened when she turned down an office job her father wanted for her.
In a shocking move, he locked her in her room for six months. He insisted she fill out employment forms that he slid under the door. She remained defiant, refusing to give up on her passion for the arts.
Eucharia resorted to jumping fences and sneaking out to attend auditions.
The turning point finally came after she won an award in London for the movie 'Glamour Girls'. Upon her return, her father asked her to kneel.
He placed sand in her hand and blessed her, declaring that her glory would be immeasurable. It was the first time he had ever hugged her.
