Mark Pitts Exits RCA Records to Launch Cofvnders

Mark Pitts leaving his role as RCA Records president to start new multimedia management company Cofvnders.

Big changes are happening at the top level of the global music industry. Veteran executive Mark Pitts has stepped down as the president of RCA Records

He made this announcement on Tuesday, signaling the end of a significant era for the label.

Pitts is not stepping away from the business entirely. Instead, he is launching a new venture called Cofvnders. This multimedia management company aims to bridge gaps between talent development and global culture. It is a bold move into independence after years of corporate leadership.

His departure does not mean a total break from his past work. Pitts will maintain a consulting role with RCA and Sony Music. He plans to continue advising some of the key acts he helped develop over the years.

Reflecting on his time at RCA, Pitts expressed deep pride. He noted that he felt blessed to shape major careers during his tenure. His new focus with Cofvnders represents a fresh energy after 25 years in the game.

The new company is already making waves. Cofvnders is co-producing "The R&B Tour" featuring heavyweights Usher and Chris Brown. The tour is set to kick off in Denver this June.

There is also an international angle to his new vision. Pitts has partnered with Tamayu Takayama to launch the Tokyo Sound Continuum. This program connects American producers with Japanese creatives, showing his global ambition.

For Nigerian music fans, Pitts’ exit is particularly interesting. It comes at a time when Sony Music has deepened its roots in the Afrobeats scene. The label has been instrumental in pushing Nigerian stars to the global stage.

Industry watchers will recall Davido’s landmark deal with RCA in 2016. That partnership was a major breakthrough for Afrobeats in the American market.

Wizkid and Tiwa Savage also secured global deals with Sony’s Columbia Records around the same time.

These deals helped position Nigerian artists for international crossover success. While Pitts moves on to his new chapter, his legacy includes overseeing a period where the label embraced African talent

The industry will be watching to see how his new venture interacts with the booming African market.
