Trump attacks Pope Leo over crime, Iran and Maduro comments in a sharp Truth Social post.
Donald Trump has launched a fresh attack on Pope Leo, criticizing the pontiff over comments on crime, foreign policy and the war between Iran and Israel.
In a long post on Truth Social on Sunday night, Trump said Pope Leo was "weak on crime" and "terrible for foreign policy."
The former U.S. president was also angered by the Pope’s remarks on the U.S.-backed bombing of Iran. Over the weekend, Leo suggested that a "delusion of omnipotence" may be driving the conflict.
Trump did not hold back. He said he preferred Leo’s brother, Louis, whom he described as "all MAGA." Louis, who lives in Florida, is known for posting outspoken right-wing messages online.
Trump also hit out at the Pope over criticism of his handling of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. Maduro is now facing trial in the United States over alleged drug trafficking and other federal offences.
He then said Leo should be "thankful" that he was never on any list to become pope, adding that he was chosen only to deal with "President Donald J. Trump" from what he called a liberal point of view.
Trump ended by urging the Pope to "get his act together" and stop pandering to the "Radical Left," saying it was hurting both him and the Catholic Church.
