Nollywood is in mourning after reports said actor Alexx Ekubo died at the age of 40 following a private battle with cancer. Premium Times, Punch, TheCable, The Guardian and other outlets reported that the news was shared by colleagues and talent manager Sam Olatunji.
At the time of filing those reports, the family had not issued an official public statement. BusinessDay and Daily Times also noted that the exact circumstances of his death were still being clarified.
The illness described across reports was not fully consistent. Some outlets said he had been battling cancer in general, while others mentioned kidney cancer. That means the stage 4 liver cancer claim could not be independently confirmed from the mainstream reports reviewed.
