Peggy Ovire Celebrates Being Free After Marriage Breakup

Nollywood actress Peggy Ovire celebrates being free after separation from Frederick Leonard with Instagram post

Nollywood actress Peggy Ovire has set social media buzzing again after posting a bold message about choosing herself and celebrating her freedom.

The post came barely a day after her estranged husband, actor Frederick Leonard, marked his birthday with a declaration that he is now happier than ever before.

On Saturday, Peggy shared a glowing photo of herself on Instagram. Her caption was short and direct: "God did it. I choose me!"

When a follower asked her to give God the glory instead of herself, she replied warmly, "God restored my peace, my life. My brother God did it."

Fans quickly linked the post to Frederick's birthday message and read it as Peggy's way of saying she is embracing peace after a difficult chapter.

Frederick had posted on Friday, 3 May 2026, during his birthday celebration. He wrote, "I HAVE FULLY COME INTO MY OWN, I LOVE WHAT I HAVE DISCOVERED AND I AM HAPPIER NOW THAN EVER. MY CREATOR IS VERY INTENTIONAL WITH ME, EVERY PAGE OF MY LIFE COMES WITH A TESTIMONY."

His message, which pulled more than 63,000 reactions on Instagram, immediately reignited talk about his marriage to Peggy.

Daily Post reports that the birthday was Frederick's first since his separation from Peggy, his estranged wife.

The couple got married in a star-studded ceremony in Asaba, Delta State, on November 19, 2022. Since then, they have faced months of separation rumours, though neither has openly confirmed a split.

Their online activity has fueled the speculation. In January, Peggy removed Frederick's name from her social media page.

During Christmas, she raised eyebrows after sharing solo photos in coloured pyjamas beside her tree, without her husband in sight.

Last October, on Monday October 21, Peggy marked her birthday with stunning photos, but fans noticed Frederick stayed silent and did not post a public message for her.

Weeks ago, Peggy also stirred conversation when she asked women what they would do if they found out their man was sleeping with a married woman with kids, noting the irony of men who judge single ladies for dating married men.

Despite the rumours, Frederick once warned bloggers to stop peddling false stories, saying marriage is not slavery and that they do not owe social media explanations.

For now, Peggy's fans are cheering her on. Many praised her latest post as a declaration of self-love, healing, and freedom, with comments like "choose you over and over again" flooding her page.

Neither Peggy nor Frederick has addressed the status of their marriage directly, but their back-to-back posts have kept Nigerians talking about one of Nollywood's most followed love stories.
