President Bola Tinubu has celebrated Nigeria’s Super Falcons for winning their 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title, conferring on them the national honour of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).
The President hosted the team at the Presidential Villa on Monday, July 28, where he praised their dedication and called their victory a symbol of Nigeria’s unbreakable spirit.
As part of the rewards, each of the 24 players will receive the naira equivalent of $100,000 and a three-bedroom apartment. The 11-man technical crew will also receive $50,000 each, along with the same housing benefit.
Tinubu said the gesture was in appreciation of their hard work and for making the nation proud on the continental stage.
In addition, the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, announced a ₦10 million donation to each player and member of the technical team on behalf of the Forum.
