The Nigerian Army has confirmed the death of General Uba, the Brigade Commander of Damboa, after hours of confusion and desperate rescue attempts. 

He was reportedly taken by ISWAP terrorists while moving through a forested area.

Military insiders revealed that the commander had earlier sent a short video assuring troops and colleagues that he was safe. 

They explained that the clip was recorded before his situation worsened and he became disoriented in the bush.

Troops on ground, backed by air support, launched several missions to recover him. At one point, the commander reportedly told his team he was already making his way back to base, giving hope that the rescue operation would be swift.

However, the situation changed dramatically. After news of his abduction spread online, terrorists reportedly re-captured him. Hours later, the military confirmed he had been killed.

The development comes after earlier claims by the army that General Uba had safely returned to base. His death has now raised pressing questions about the transparency of military communication and the safety of frontline officers battling insurgents.
