A fresh PDP power tussle erupted as loyalists blocked Samuel Ortom from the party’s headquarters, exposing deeper internal cracks.
Tension boiled over at the national secretariat of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja on Tuesday as former Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom, was walked out of the building in a dramatic twist to the party’s ongoing internal crisis.
Eyewitnesses told reporters that the atmosphere changed the moment Ortom appeared. A group of members loyal to Governors Seyi Makinde and Bala Mohammed reportedly confronted him almost immediately, insisting he was not welcome at the secretariat.
Some voices were heard shouting, “He should leave! Who is he? This is not your PDP!”
The situation quickly escalated, forcing party officials to intervene and escort Ortom outside to avoid further confrontation.
The incident happened just moments before Governors Makinde and Bala Mohammed arrived to brief journalists a move many observers see as another sign of the widening power struggle tearing through the PDP, as rival blocs jostle for control of the party structure.
