Nigerian artistes dominate the 2026 Grammy nominations, with Davido, Burna Boy, and others spotlighting Afrobeat’s global rise.
The 2026 Grammy Awards nominations are out, and it’s another big win for Nigeria as top Afrobeats stars dominate the international stage.
Davido, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Wizkid, and Omah Lay are all in the spotlight after earning nominations for the 68th Annual Grammy Awards.
Davido’s “With You,” featuring Omah Lay, goes head-to-head with Burna Boy’s “Love” and Ayra Starr’s “Gimme Dat,” which features Wizkid, in the Best African Music Performance category. They’ll be competing alongside Uganda’s Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin with “Hope & Love,” and South Africa’s Tyla with “Push 2 Start.”
Burna Boy also scored another nod in the Best Global Music Album category for his project No Sign of Weakness. He faces tough competition from Senegalese music legend Youssou N’Dour (Eclairer le Monde – Light the World), Beninese icon Angélique Kidjo (Jerusalema), and India’s Anoushka Shankar (Chapter III: We Return to Light).
The 68th Grammy Awards will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. This year’s event celebrates music released between August 31, 2024, and August 30, 2025.
Meanwhile, the Recording Academy announced the addition of two new categories: Best Traditional Country Album and Best Album Cover, marking another evolution in Grammy history.
With these nominations, Nigerian music continues to make waves across the world a clear sign that Afrobeats is no longer just a genre, but a global movement.
