A suspect has been taken into custody after damaging a residence associated with US Vice President JD Vance in Ohio, the US Secret Service has confirmed.
An overnight security incident occurred at an Ohio home linked to Vice President JD Vance, prompting the arrest of an adult male, US authorities confirmed on Monday.
According to Anthony Guglielmi, Chief of Communications for the US Secret Service, the suspect was detained by Secret Service personnel before being taken into custody by the Cincinnati Police Department.
Guglielmi said the suspect caused property damage, including breaking windows on the exterior of the residence.
He confirmed that the home was unoccupied at the time of the incident and that Vice President Vance and his family were not in Ohio when the damage occurred.
Local media outlet WLWT published images showing shattered windows at the property.
Authorities have not yet determined whether the suspect was attempting to break into the residence or simply vandalizing the property.
A source familiar with the investigation said the man will be interviewed by US Secret Service agents to establish his motive and intentions.
The US Secret Service stated that it is coordinating with the Cincinnati Police Department and the US Attorney’s Office as officials review potential criminal charges.
No further details about the suspect or possible charges have been released at this time.
