Former Enugu State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Greg Nnaji, has officially assumed duty as the new State Project Coordinator of the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) in the state.

He took over from the Acting Coordinator, Mr Boniface Madu, during a formal handover ceremony held on Friday at the RAAMP State Project Implementation Unit office in Enugu.

Speaking shortly after the event, Nnaji thanked Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah for the confidence reposed in him and the opportunity to serve.

He said his immediate focus would be to strengthen ongoing work at the State Project Implementation Unit and ensure that rural infrastructure projects are delivered on schedule and according to approved standards.

According to him, Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project plays a critical role in opening up rural communities, improving access to markets, and supporting agricultural productivity across Enugu State.

Nnaji also acknowledged the foundation team for their role in positioning the state for effective participation in the programme, noting that their groundwork created a strong base to build upon.

The new coordinator promised an open and accountable management style, driven by results and measurable economic impact.

“I am fully committed to transparency, accountability, and delivering results that can be measured. We will comply strictly with donor standards from start to finish. Timely execution is central to the expectations of the World Bank,” he said.

He added that project delivery would be guided by a simple principle: start and finish.

“If a project begins, it must be completed on time and according to specification,” Nnaji stated.

He further assured that quality assurance and control systems would be strictly enforced to guarantee the durability and long-term value of rural road projects funded under the programme.

With nearly four decades of professional experience, Nnaji brings strong technical depth to the role. He is a civil engineering graduate of Enugu State University of Science and Technology and a Fellow of both the Nigerian Society of Engineers and the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers. He is also registered with COREN.

Nnaji previously served as Commissioner for Science and Technology between 2015 and 2017, and later as Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure from 2017 to 2023, where he supervised major urban and rural road projects across Enugu State.

Industry observers believe his blend of public sector leadership, technical expertise, and hands-on project delivery places him in a strong position to drive the World Bank-backed RAAMP programme and deepen rural connectivity and economic inclusion in the state.
