A US judge hands a 120-year prison sentence to a man for the armed sexual assault of two spa workers in 2024.
A court in Lancaster County, USA, has handed down a heavy sentence to 38-year-old Christopher A. Rivera.
The Middletown resident is set to spend between 60 and 120 years behind bars for a violent attack on two women at a massage spa.
The incident, which took place in August 2024, began as a broad-daylight robbery. Rivera stormed a spa in Penn Township, wielding what appeared to be a deadly handgun. He demanded cash and made away with over $800 from the business’s daily earnings.
However, the situation turned even more horrific. Despite receiving the money he asked for, Rivera forced the two female employees into a massage room at gunpoint. It was there that he carried out a series of brutal sexual assaults.
The law caught up with him almost immediately. As he tried to flee the scene, police officers arrived. Rivera refused to drop his weapon which investigators later identified as a pellet gun prompting an officer to shoot him.
The District Attorney’s office later cleared the officer, stating the shooting was justified because the pellet gun looked exactly like a real firearm.
Following a detailed trial, the judge ensured that Rivera would face the full weight of the law. With a sentence reaching up to 120 years, the court has effectively ensured he will likely spend the rest of his life in a state prison.
