Nigerian troops on patrol following a successful rescue operation in Riyom, Plateau State.

Troops from Sector 6 of Operation OPEP have dealt a heavy blow to a kidnapping syndicate in Plateau State. In a swift raid at Angwan Boka, Riyom Local Government Area, soldiers neutralized five suspected kidnappers and safely rescued a woman.

The operation, which took place on Tuesday evening, was fueled by intelligence. Security expert Zagazola Makama revealed that the breakthrough came after two suspects arrested earlier confessed to being part of the gang.

These suspects pointed the troops toward their hideout. They also confirmed they were holding a woman who had been snatched earlier that morning around 6:00 am.

When the soldiers arrived at the scene, a fierce gun battle broke out. The troops’ superior firepower led to the elimination of the criminals, ensuring the victim was returned to safety.

This successful mission highlights the ongoing efforts to restore peace to the Sopp District.
