OWO – Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have apprehended a man, identified as Johnson Daniel, for the alleged murder of 18-year-old Ariyo Timilehin. The incident, which occurred in the Owo Local Government Area, has sent shockwaves through the community.

The arrest follows a violent altercation on March 6, 2026, which resulted in the teenager sustaining fatal injuries.

Preliminary investigations by the authorities indicate that a heated argument between the suspect and the victim escalated rapidly. In the heat of the moment, Daniel allegedly stabbed Timilehin. It was a swift, tragic turn of events.

The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the details in a statement released to the press. According to Jimoh, the victim was immediately rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owo, in a desperate bid to save his life. However, the injuries proved too severe. Medical personnel at the facility confirmed the boy dead on arrival.

Following the report of the incident, police detectives visited the scene to commence a forensic sweep. Their efforts yielded immediate results. Officers recovered the knife suspected to have been used in the attack, a critical piece of evidence now in police custody.

The swift response of the operatives led to Daniel’s arrest shortly after the crime was committed.

The authorities are not treating this matter lightly. To ensure a thorough prosecution, the Command has escalated the file.

"The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation," DSP Jimoh stated.

The move signifies a transition to a more intensive phase of the inquiry. Detectives at the SCID will now lead the effort to establish the full facts behind the altercation and prepare the case for the judiciary.

For now, a family in Owo is left to mourn a life cut short, while the suspect awaits his day in court.
