A 21-year-old woman has accused her father of repeated sexual abuse and forced abortions in Ogun State.
The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended a man identified as Oluwadamilare Ewedemi. He is facing serious allegations of sexually assaulting his own daughter.
The suspect was arrested following a disturbing report by the 21-year-old survivor. She alleged that her father had been abusing her since 2019.
According to the victim, the repeated sexual abuse resulted in five pregnancies. She claimed that her father forced her to undergo illegal abortions each time.
The survivor recounted that she lost her mother as an infant and grew up in a motherless home in Lagos. Her father later took her to Ijebu Ode under the pretense of caring for her.
However, the situation turned into a nightmare. Unable to endure the persistent abuse, the young woman escaped from the house on February 1, 2026. She sought refuge in a church at Pakoto before approaching the police.
The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the arrest. He revealed that the case was reported on March 26, leading to a swift operation by the Ifo Division.
The suspect is currently in police custody. Authorities have transferred the case to the Gender Desk for a thorough investigation and prosecution.
