Florida Rep Jared Moskowitz, on his X handle confirmed the death of a rising star. Nancy Metayer Bowen, the Vice Mayor of Coral Springs, She was found dead in her home on Wednesday morning.

Police discovered her body during a routine wellness check. Authorities have since arrested her husband, Stephen Bowen, in connection with the incident.

Law enforcement officials are treating the death as a domestic violence case. They have confirmed that no other suspects are being sought at this time.

Bowen was a trailblazer in her community. She made history as the first Black and Haitian American woman to serve as a commissioner for Coral Springs. She was re-elected in 2024 and was serving her second term as Vice Mayor.

Her death comes at a critical moment in her career. Florida Rep. Jared Moskowitz revealed that Bowen was preparing to announce her run for Congress. She was scheduled to launch her campaign on Thursday to challenge Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick in the Democratic primary.
