INEC has delisted David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola as ADC leaders amidst a deepening leadership crisis within the party.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has struck out the names of David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from its official portal.
They were previously listed as the National Chairman and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress.
This move comes as the commission distances itself from the deepening leadership crisis rocking the party.
INEC has also refused to recognize Nafiu Bala Gombe, who is currently seeking a court order to be declared the acting chairman.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the electoral body announced the suspension of recognition for all factions within the ADC.
It vowed not to monitor any congresses or conventions organized by the rival groups until the legal battle is resolved.
This decision follows conflicting court judgments and a flurry of legal letters from the warring factions. One letter warned against recognizing Gombe, while another demanded the removal of Mark and Aregbesola.
INEC stated that it is maintaining a neutral stance pending the final determination of the substantive suit at the Federal High Court. The commission urged political stakeholders to avoid actions that could disrupt the upcoming 2027 general elections.
