Northern Governors Mourn Attahiru Jega’s Wife, Hadiza

Northern Governors have condoled with Prof. Attahiru Jega over the death of his wife, Hajiya Hadiza, describing it as a painful loss.

Governors from the 19 Northern states have sent a message of comfort to former INEC chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega. They are mourning the death of his wife, Hajiya Hadiza Jega.

The Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, Muhammadu Yahaya, led the condolences. In a statement released by his spokesperson, Ismaila Misilli, the Gombe State governor described the death as painful. He noted that the loss is felt not just by the family, but by everyone who knew her.

Hadiza passed away on Sunday. Her funeral rites took place at the National Mosque in Abuja. She has since been buried according to Islamic traditions.

Yahaya praised the late matriarch for her life of grace and humility. He urged the family to find solace in the legacy of kindness she left behind. He prayed for God to grant her Aljannatul Firdaus and give the family strength.

Bayero University Kano (BUK) has also expressed sadness over the incident. The institution, where Jega once served as Vice-Chancellor, described her death as a great loss to the academic community. Many Nigerians continue to send messages of sympathy to the family.
