Departing Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola insists leaving the Premier League champions now is the right decision.
The Pep Guardiola era at Manchester City has finally come to an end. The respected manager believes this is the perfect moment to walk away from the club.
Guardiola took charge of his last game on Sunday. It ended in a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa on home soil. Still, the result did not overshadow his incredible journey.
The 55-year-old Spanish tactician is now looking forward to a well-deserved break. He wants to step away from the intense pressures of football and spend quality time with his family.
He also expressed deep gratitude to the club's board. Guardiola thanked the City hierarchy for understanding his choice to step down after spending ten years at the Etihad Stadium.
Speaking on his exit, Guardiola made his feelings clear. He admitted he needs the rest right now.
"It is the right time. I will not miss it for a while, that’s for sure," he said.
He further explained that his choice benefits everyone involved. "I feel deeply that the decision is the right decision for this club and the players. I thank the club for respecting it, they understood," he stated.
His ten-year stay in Manchester was nothing short of spectacular. Guardiola leaves behind a glowing legacy, having secured six Premier League titles, one Champions League trophy, three FA Cups, and five League Cups.
