Influencer Blessing CEO faces N36m fraud trial as court reserves bail ruling for June 9, rejecting out-of-court settlement moves.
She is widely known as Blessing CEO, one of Nigeria’s most vocal social media influencers and relationship therapists. But right now, she is making headlines for a completely different reason.
Okoro Blessing Nkiruka is standing trial at a Federal High Court in Lagos, facing serious criminal charges.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has dragged her to court on a two-count charge. The allegations are obtaining money by false pretence and stealing. Both charges carry heavy penalties under Nigerian law.
At the centre of this case is a staggering N36 million property deal. The anti-graft agency alleges that Blessing CEO collected this huge sum from a woman named Mrs. Ifeyinwa Nonye Okoye.
The transaction reportedly happened between July 14 and 17, 2024. Mrs. Okoye claims she paid the money to lease a six-bedroom duplex in the highbrow Lekki area of Lagos.
However, the EFCC says the duplex was never delivered. The agency alleges that the influencer collected the money under false pretence, simply taking the cash without fulfilling her end of the bargain.
The Lagos Zonal Directorate 1 of the EFCC took up the case and filed charges at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi. Justice D.I. Dipeolu is presiding over the matter.
During the hearings, Blessing CEO's lawyers tried to soften the blow. They informed the court that their client had already refunded N24 million out of the N36 million to the complainant.
Her legal team pleaded for more time to settle the remaining balance out of court. They hoped this partial refund would encourage the judge to pause the trial and allow for a private settlement.
The EFCC, however, refused to budge. The prosecution firmly rejected any idea of an out-of-court settlement, insisting that a criminal trial is not a negotiation table. They demanded that the law takes its full course, regardless of any refund.
Justice Dipeolu agreed with the EFCC. The judge ruled that ongoing private negotiations cannot be used to stop a criminal proceeding. Because of this, Blessing CEO was ordered to remain in custody while the trial continues.
Her lawyers quickly filed a bail application to secure her temporary freedom. On Friday, June 5, 2026, Justice Dipeolu listened to arguments from both sides but chose to reserve judgment on the bail request.
All eyes are now on Monday, June 9, 2026. The court will deliver its ruling on the bail application on that date. This decision will determine whether the influencer walks free for now or stays behind bars as the trial unfolds. The EFCC has officially confirmed this next court date.
