The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested 19 people at a hotel in the state capital over alleged immoral activities.
The operation took place at a hotel identified as ICU in Nassarawa GRA, Kano.
Deputy Commander General of the Board, Dr Mujahid Aminuddeen, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
According to him, those arrested include 12 women and seven men. The suspects were picked up during a routine enforcement exercise following intelligence reports.
He said some of those apprehended are not residents of Kano. They had travelled in from other states to the hotel.
Dr Aminuddeen raised concern over what he described as the worrisome trend of allocating rooms to underage youths. He said the board is particularly worried about how hotels allow young people to lodge without proper checks.
The Hisbah chief noted that investigations are ongoing. The aim is to determine the level of involvement of each suspect.
He explained that after the investigation, the board will take appropriate legal action. Those found culpable will be charged to court.
For first-time offenders, the board will adopt a different approach. They will be counselled and reoriented, while their parents or guardians will be invited to take custody of them.
The Hisbah Board has in recent months intensified raids on hotels and event centres across Kano metropolis over similar offences.
The board has also warned hotel owners to stop allowing underage persons and persons of questionable character to use their facilities or risk sanctions.
Residents have been urged to continue to report suspected immoral activities in their areas to the board for prompt action.
