Trump To Attend World Cup Final Between Argentina And Spain

President Donald Trump to attend World Cup final between Argentina and Spain at MetLife Stadium

The White House has confirmed that United States President Donald Trump will be at the FIFA World Cup final this Sunday.

The final will be between defending champions Argentina and Spain. It is scheduled for July 19, 2026, at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

The announcement was made on Thursday by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.

She said the President has been looking forward to the match and that his presence will be a major highlight of the tournament.

According to her, Trump’s attendance will cap what has been described as the most watched, most secure and most successful World Cup in American history.

This will be Trump's first appearance at a match in this year’s tournament, which the United States is co-hosting.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino had earlier hinted that Trump would attend the final.

Infantino said both of them will be together to watch the match and jointly present the trophy to the winning captain.

"We will be together with the president enjoying the final and handing the trophy to the winner, of course, together," Infantino told Fox and Friends.

The White House also disclosed that the President will host FIFA officials at a reception in Trump Tower on Friday before heading to the stadium on Sunday.

Sunday’s final is already generating huge global attention.

It will feature a much talked about showdown between Lionel Messi and Spain’s young star Lamine Yamal.

For Argentina, it is a chance to defend their title. For Spain, it is a chance to claim world football’s biggest prize again.

President Trump did not attend any of the earlier matches, including the US opener, but officials said he saved his appearance for the grand finale.

Security and logistics are already tight around New York and New Jersey ahead of the match, with thousands of fans expected at the New York-New Jersey stadium.

The White House says the President’s presence will be a fitting conclusion to a tournament that has showcased America’s ability to host the world on the grandest stage.
