Actress Hayden Panettiere, the face many of us grew up watching on Heroes and Nashville, has died. She was 36.
The news first broke through TMZ on Sunday, with sources close to the actress confirming she passed earlier in the day.
According to the report, Hayden had flown from Los Angeles to the south on Saturday with her on-again, off-again partner Brian Hickerson. Brian’s family has been informed. Sources close to them described the situation as simply sad.

Her representative has now confirmed the tragedy in a statement shared with ABC News and Fox News Digital.
"It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden. She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her and to the millions who watched her onscreen," the rep said.
The circumstances around her death have not been made public. Authorities are yet to release further details.
From child star to household name
Hayden was not new to the screen. She started as a child actress and quickly won hearts.
Her big break came as Claire Bennet, the indestructible cheerleader in NBC’s hit series Heroes. That role made her a global name.
She later reinvented herself as Juliette Barnes, the ambitious country singer in Nashville. The performance earned her award nominations and proved she was more than a former child star.
Outside TV, she also appeared in Scream 4 and Scream VI, and voiced a lead character in the popular video game Until Dawn.
A life in the spotlight
Beyond acting, Hayden lived much of her life in public view.
In recent years, she became more open about her personal struggles and journey to recovery. In her memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning, she spoke honestly about childhood fame, motherhood, mental health, and grief.
The book also touched on the painful loss of her younger brother, Jansen Panettiere, who died in 2023 at the age of 28 from an enlarged heart. Hayden had spoken about the guilt and heartbreak that followed his passing.
She is survived by her daughter, Kaya, whom she shares with former fiancé and boxing champion Wladimir Klitschko.
Her last major public sighting was in May at LaGuardia Airport, where she was seen with a friend ahead of her memoir release. There were no loud statements. Just a quiet smile that many now remember.
