Osogbo, Osun State — Governor Ademola Adeleke has secured a second term as governor of Osun State after defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, in the governorship election held on Saturday, August 15, 2026.
Adeleke, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party, polled 511,067 votes to emerge ahead of Oyebamiji, who received 444,815 votes.
The result gave Adeleke a winning margin of 66,252 votes and extended his stay in the Osun Government House for another four years.
Adeleke wins 19 of 30 LGAs
One of the clearest factors in the final result was Adeleke's stronger spread across the state.
The incumbent won 19 of Osun's 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji carried 11.
Adeleke secured victories in major areas including Ede North, Ede South, Osogbo, Iwo, Ejigbo, Ife North, Ife East, Ife Central, Ifelodun, Odo Otin, Ilesa West, Ayedaade and Ayedire, among others.
Oyebamiji, on the other hand, recorded victories in Irewole, Isokan, Olorunda, Atakumosa East, Atakumosa West, Ilesa East, Boripe, Irepodun and Obokun, with his support concentrated in 11 local government areas.
The figures show that Adeleke's victory was not built on a narrow advantage in one part of Osun. He accumulated enough votes across a wider number of local government areas to maintain the lead through the final collation.
