Tragedy struck Nsukka on Thursday night after suspected assassins killed a well-known politician, Prince Ikechukwu Oloto.
Oloto, who was widely known as Okanga Moo, was a prominent political figure in the Nsukka zone of Enugu State. He hailed from Nsukka Local Government Area.
Multiple sources told Obgist that the attack happened inside his house at Odenigbo, Nsukka.
According to reports circulating on social media, the assailants allegedly used a knife to carry out the killing.
The motive behind the attack is still unclear. As of press time, no group has claimed responsibility and the identity of the killers remains unknown.
News of the murder first broke on Facebook. A social media influencer, Sen Chijinkem Ugwuanyi, confirmed the incident in a post on Thursday evening.
Ugwuanyi claimed that unknown gunmen stormed Oloto's residence in Odenigbo and killed him, describing the attack as brutal.
His post has since triggered widespread reactions. Many residents and supporters have taken to social media to express shock and mourn the late politician.
Obgist checks show that the Enugu State Police Command is yet to release an official statement on the incident.
