NDC Disowns OK Movement PCC Ahead Of 2027 General Elections

The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, has distanced itself from the Presidential Campaign Council, PCC, recently announced by the OK Movement.

The party said the council was not set up by its leadership and should be disregarded.

This was contained in a statement signed on Saturday by the National Chairman of the party, Cleopas Moses.

According to Moses, the publication credited to one John Ugulu was not authorised. He stressed that it did not emanate from the NDC.

He added that going forward, no individual or group has the right to announce or publish any campaign structure in the name of the party without approval.

Only the National Working Committee, NWC, can approve such organs.

The statement read in part that the party leadership had noted with concern the publication announcing a PCC under the guise of the OK Movement.

For the avoidance of doubt, the NDC dissociates itself in totality from the announcement. The public and the media should disregard it.

Moses reminded all candidates that they are not independent candidates. They are products of the party and remain under the authority and discipline of the party.

Therefore, only the party leadership can constitute and announce a Presidential Campaign Council.

He warned that no member, candidate or support group should undermine the party under any guise.

The party, however, said it appreciates the role of support groups. It acknowledged their contributions and encouraged them to continue.

The NDC also said it welcomes more support groups that align with its mission to rescue Nigeria.

But the party was clear. Support groups must not see themselves as parallel structures or alternative organs of the party.

The NDC said it will continue to work with all support groups, but within the party’s approved structure.
