Kelly Clarkson $15,000 Bird Dispute Footage Emerges

New security footage has surfaced showing singer Kelly Clarkson's visit to a Brooklyn curiosity shop at the centre of her dispute over a $15,000 mechanical singing bird.

The video, obtained by Pablo Torre, captures the visit to Art of Play that sparked the public row. It shows Clarkson entering the store, picking up various items, before approaching the bird in question, identified as Molly.

In the clip, she is seen pointing to Molly on the wall and speaking with an employee. The footage has no audio.

About five minutes after entering, Clarkson is seen waving her hands while speaking emotionally to a worker at the entrance before leaving the shop.

How the Dispute Started

Clarkson first made the dispute public over the weekend. She claimed she drove to Art of Play intending to buy several items, but felt an employee assumed she could not afford what she wanted.

She compared the experience to Julia Roberts being snubbed in the film Pretty Woman and warned the shop that it had lost a major sale.

Art of Play initially said Molly was a one-of-a-kind singing and dancing automaton that was permanently attached to the wall and not for sale.

Clarkson rejected that account. She accused the shop of lying and insisted an employee had pointed to a $15,000 price tag before offering to find her something comparable.

The store later clarified its position. It said the $15,000 price was for a nearly identical bird owned by Seattle artist Bliss Kolb. It also said staff offered to show Clarkson a different singing bird available for around $2,000, but she left before seeing it.

The surveillance video provides a visual record of the visit, but it does not capture tone or the exact words exchanged.

The dispute has generated significant online reaction, with supporters of both sides weighing in and the small business facing public scrutiny. It has also prompted debate about celebrity social media callouts when a local business contests the account.

Whether the footage supports Clarkson's version, the store's version, or neither remains a matter of public interpretation.
