Tensions between Israel and Iran have intensified, with Israel confirming the death of senior Iranian commander Saeed Izadi.
According to Israeli officials, Izadi, head of the Quds Force's Palestine Corps, was killed in a targeted strike on an apartment in Qom, Iran. He was said to be instrumental in supporting Hamas, allegedly aiding their October 7, 2023, attack on Israel.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz praised the operation as a significant success for Israeli intelligence and its air force. Iranian state media also reported attacks on other cities, with casualties including a 16-year-old and multiple injuries.
In total, Iran says over 430 people have died and thousands more injured since strikes began on June 13.
Meanwhile, Iran's leadership remains defiant, with Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi declaring that Tehran will not enter nuclear talks while under military threat.
Iran accuses Israel and indirectly, the U.S. of fueling the conflict. Israel maintains that Iran is close to developing nuclear weapons, a claim Iran denies, stating its program is for peaceful purposes only.
While Israel has suffered missile strikes in return, with 24 civilians reported dead, the war marks the most serious confrontation between the two nations in years.
