The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has announced a reward of up to $10,000 for anyone with credible information that could lead to the arrest and conviction of a Nigerian man, Olumide Adebiyi Adediran.
According to the FBI, Adediran is wanted for Violation of Conditions of Release after fleeing the Central District of Illinois in December 2001, just days before his federal trial was scheduled to begin.
Authorities say Adediran was facing several financial crime charges, including Bank Fraud, Identification Document Fraud, and Credit Card Fraud. These charges point to an alleged scheme involving identity theft and fraudulent transactions, crimes that can cost banks and individuals thousands of dollars.
The violation he committed fleeing while on conditional release is considered a serious offense under U.S. law. Such a move usually signals that the suspect is a high flight risk and is actively avoiding justice.
The FBI is urging anyone with information about Adediran’s whereabouts to come forward. Tips can be submitted to the nearest FBI field office or online via the official FBI website.
Law enforcement agencies often offer cash rewards like this to encourage public cooperation, especially in cases where suspects have managed to stay hidden for years. With this new push, authorities are hopeful they can finally bring Adediran to justice more than two decades after his disappearance.
