GRV Rules Out Alliance With Tinubu in Lagos Politics

Former Labour Party governorship candidate in Lagos, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has made it clear that he would never align with President Bola Tinubu in the politics of Lagos State.

Rhodes-Vivour, popularly known as GRV, stated this on Sunday while speaking on Channels TV’s Politics Today. He explained that if the choice ever came down to working with Tinubu, he would rather step away from politics entirely.

“No. I’ll rather go and focus on my business, work, and my family. That would be a complete waste of time,” he said.

The politician, who recently left the Labour Party for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), stressed that his political ideology is different from Tinubu’s. According to him, his goal is to return Lagos “to its old glory” and ensure the state’s resources serve the people.

Rhodes-Vivour also revealed that his move to the ADC had the backing of Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi. He said both men remain in alignment and are working on building a stronger opposition coalition ahead of future elections.

Meanwhile, the ADC candidate accused police officers of standing by while he and his supporters were attacked during a programme in Alimosho over the weekend. The Lagos State Police Command has, however, denied the allegation.
