In 2016, something remarkable unfolded in Enugu a story many Nigerians may not know.
Peace Mass Transit (PMT), one of Nigeria’s most popular transport companies, took a bold step beyond carrying passengers. They decided to start producing the very buses that move thousands of Nigerians daily.
This vision led to the creation of the Peace Automobile Assembly Plant in Emene, Enugu a project that marked a turning point for local manufacturing in the Southeast.
The man behind this historic move, Chief Samuel Maduka Onyishi, founder of Peace Mass Transit, built the plant initially to serve PMT’s vast fleet. But the long-term goal was bigger: to supply durable, roadworthy buses for the Nigerian market.
Instead of relying entirely on imported vehicles, this project brought a new wave of pride to the region a statement that Nigerians can build, innovate, and thrive within their own soil.
The buses assembled at the Enugu plant are designed with Nigeria’s rough roads in mind strong, reliable, and built to last. It’s not just a business venture; it’s an investment in local talent and technology.
Chief Onyishi’s vision goes beyond transportation. He planted a seed of possibility that Nigeria can move from consuming to creating, from importing to innovating.
From the busy roads of Nsukka to the highways of Lagos, the Peace brand continues to stand as a reminder that progress begins when we choose to build it ourselves.
