UDUS Graduate Abducted in Niger, Kidnappers Demand N200m

Fresh Graduate Abducted in Niger State, Kidnappers Demand N200m

A recent graduate of Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto (UDUS), has been abducted by gunmen along a highway in Niger State.

The victim, identified as Miss Ojedeyi, was returning home after her induction ceremony when the incident occurred around 8 p.m. on Monday, September 29, 2025.

According to sources, the kidnappers later reached out to her family, demanding a ransom of ₦200 million for her release. So far, negotiations have been difficult, and her whereabouts remain unknown.

Security agencies have been alerted and are said to be investigating the case. However, no official statement has been released regarding progress made.

The abduction has sparked widespread concern within her family, colleagues, and the healthcare community.

Many have taken to social media, appealing to government authorities and security operatives to intensify efforts towards her safe return.

Kidnapping for ransom has become a recurring threat in parts of northern Nigeria, with Niger State often cited as one of the most affected. Families of victims are usually forced to pay huge sums, while security agencies struggle to track down criminal groups operating in remote forests.

The abduction of Ojedeyi, a promising young graduate who had just completed her professional induction, has once again raised serious questions about the safety of travelers on Nigerian highways.

For now, her family continues to wait anxiously, hoping that security forces will intervene before it is too late.
