Hollywood actress Emilia Clarke has revealed that she suffered a rib injury while filming a physically demanding scene for her latest television project.
The Game of Thrones star said the incident happened during production of Ponies, a new Peacock series in which she plays an undercover agent named Bea.
Speaking about the experience, Clarke explained that the scene required multiple takes over several hours, placing unexpected strain on her body. She later discovered she had broken a rib during filming.
The actress described the injury as awkward to explain during a medical visit, joking that it was not an easy conversation to have with her doctor.
The role marks a return to bold and emotionally intense performances for Clarke, who rose to global fame as Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones.
The fantasy series also starred Jason Momoa, with whom she recently reunited more than a decade after the show first aired.
In Ponies, Clarke portrays the wife of a CIA agent during the Cold War era. After her husband dies under mysterious circumstances, her character travels to Russia to continue his work and uncover the truth behind his death, navigating a dangerous world of espionage and personal risk.
Beyond television, Clarke has built a solid film career, with roles in Terminator Genisys and Solo: A Star Wars Story. However, she has previously said she has no plans to return to fantasy roles involving dragons.
Outside acting, Clarke is also known for her advocacy work. She founded the charity SameYou to support people recovering from brain injuries, after surviving a life-threatening brain haemorrhage in 2011. Her efforts earned her an MBE in 2023.
