Hilda Baci adds a third Guinness World Record after her Lagos rice cook set a global mark for the largest serving of rice.

Hilda Baci Guinness World Record largest serving of rice

Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has added another milestone to her growing global profile after securing a third Guinness World Record title.

The latest recognition came as a surprise, following a post-event review of her 2025 record attempt carried out in partnership with food brand Gino.

Guinness Confirms New Record After Review

Guinness World Records confirmed that Baci’s earlier achievement in Lagos also qualifies as the world’s largest serving of rice.

The record-breaking feat was achieved on September 12, 2025, in Victoria Island, where Baci and her team prepared a total of 8,780 kilograms of rice.

While the original attempt was aimed at setting the record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, Guinness later determined that the same effort met the criteria for the broader “largest serving of rice” category.

Official Confirmation Arrives Months Later

Hilda Baci revealed the development on January 20, 2026, after receiving an official email from Guinness World Records.

According to the message, the discovery was made during a comparison of record guidelines across categories, prompting Guinness to proactively award her the additional title.

Hilda Baci Reacts to Surprise Recognition

Reacting to the news, Baci described the moment as unexpected, noting that she only realised months later that her achievement counted as two separate records.

She said what she believed was a single Guinness title had now turned into two from the same event, bringing her total number of Guinness World Records to three.

A Growing List of Global Achievements

The latest recognition builds on Baci’s earlier Guinness milestones that have placed her on the international culinary map.

In May 2023, she broke the world record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual after cooking for 93 hours and 11 minutes, following a detailed review by Guinness officials.

Although her initial target was 100 hours, the adjusted time still exceeded the previous global record.

In September 2025, she earned her second Guinness title for preparing the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice during the Lagos event with Gino.

With three Guinness World Records now to her name, Hilda Baci continues to strengthen her reputation as one of Nigeria’s most accomplished culinary figures, drawing global attention to Nigerian food and creativity.
