UK Police Arrest Protesters at Iranian Embassy

The Iranian Embassy protest in London turned violent as Metropolitan Police made arrests and deployed extra officers.

Several arrests have been made after disorder broke out during a protest near the Iranian Embassy in London, leaving a number of police officers injured.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed that the situation escalated on Friday night, prompting the deployment of additional officers to restore order around the Kensington area.

According to the police, tensions rose when a protester unlawfully entered embassy property. The individual reportedly climbed across balconies, accessed the roof of the building, and removed an Iranian flag.

Officers arrested the suspect on suspicion of criminal damage, trespass on diplomatic property, and assaulting police officers.

As the situation deteriorated, police imposed a Section 35 dispersal order, a legal measure used to break up crowds during serious public disorder.

The Metropolitan Police said several officers were injured during the incident, with objects reportedly thrown at law enforcement personnel.

Videos shared on social media showed police making arrests and some individuals appearing to have sustained injuries during the clashes.

In a later update, authorities confirmed that multiple people were arrested on suspicion of violent disorder, while a heavy police presence remained in place to prevent further unrest.

A US-based human rights group claimed that thousands had died during the unrest in Iran. However, international media organisations said the figures could not be independently verified, and Iranian officials have not released official casualty numbers.

Iran’s exiled Crown Prince, Reza Pahlavi, also called on the United States to intervene, expressing confidence in former US President Donald Trump’s earlier statements of support for protesters.

Despite earlier warnings of possible international intervention, both the street protests and talk of immediate retaliation appeared to have subsided in recent days.

Meanwhile, London police continue to monitor the area around the Iranian Embassy to ensure public safety and prevent a repeat of the violence.
